Now for the news
00:05:56 New York toy fair has been cancelled for 2022. The event usually happens in feb and show cases a lot of the toys coming out in the first quarter of the year. Sadly it’s not happening this year so we will have to follow Mattel online and see if they release any images and we will be back to discuss them on future episodes.

Topps is re releasing the original 93 jp collector cards and the collection folder. Well so I thought. Descriptions of the piece disc ribs is more like a celebration of the original cards with extras in the folder. Vintage jp cards are like funko pops online, they are everywhere so was unsure why they’d go back and try and release them again. Maybe this folder is different. We will find out in spring when it’s released.

Owen and Kayla. A leak revealed Kayla is actually Kelly malcome, that leak has pretty much been debunked. I hope so, venessa should be back if they are bringing Kelly back. They wouldn’t re case grant to a older looking man.

And Colin released an image of a para in the film on twitter. And of course half the fandom loved it, and the other half hated the new design.

There has also been some tie in marketing with the winter Olympic team. We’ve had two shorts now, one of US Olympic skier Mikaela Shiffrin encountering Blue and Rexy, and another of US Olympic ice skater Nathan Chen having a herd of Para’s come to say hello. We will get one more with Quetzelcoatlus before the beginning of the winter games, which start Feb, 3.
(Some fans are just weird, thinking it was a scene from dominion back on Nublar in the winter.)
So what’s next for marketing? Super Bowl is around the corner and most believe a new trailer is coming. Honestly with what we’ve seen already I would not be surprised if we only get a quick 30 second re arrangement of the footage we have already seen. Movies are still being pushed back and I fear it’s a 50/50 right now if dominion even comes out in June like expected.

Sadly it seems to be getting harder for fan sites to operate on social media, this past month we were all surprised when collect Jurassic was shut down on Twitter due to a copyright claim and shortly after pedia was hit on Facebook and the main discussion group was shut down for no apparent reason.
Now while collect is back up on Twitter, pedia is still closed on fb so at the moment the jurassic-pedia Facebook group and discord are the places to interact. Luckily, Pedia was able to make a new page, so like and follow!

Dominion trailer! The trailers dropped, we’ve got a good look at where dominion might be heading, we got some leaks and theories confirmed. But David, what are some scenes you’d like to discuss?

All the new Dino’s look fantastic
It really does seem to be more of a travel log film with many different locations. But I wonder if the bio domes are going to be a part. We see biosyn hq in both sun and snow
Giga seems to be a very late appearance
While trailer was meant to get everyone pumped for dominion it seems only the fans are excited. A few movie podcasts I listen to laughed at the trailer and the original trio seems to be a desperate attempt at nostalgia
Along with the trailers release activity book, the novelisation and a heaps of other marketing materials have been released.

-so as for the minute at hand, we get the universal logo up front, I had to remind myself the new trex themed logo only came in with camp Cretaceous. I hope it returns for dominion.
-next up we have the Amblin logo,
-followed by legacy pictures which I feel is only here because they helped back roll Jurassic world. With how much money it made I’m sure universal kept them at arms length to get some extra money.
-and as the minute ends we seem to be under water as all the production logos get set to come on screen a second time.
-it’s a shame the legacy logo seems to be in space, it could of been darkened so we’d go directly into the underwater scene. The stars could have become debris.
Novel Comparisons
-unfortunately getting a copy of the junior novelisation has proven harder than I thought. I now have one on the way so we will duck back to the novel a little later.

-minute 3 of fallen Kingdom opens with a submersible entering the Jurassic world lagoon,
-and ends with the submersible's robotic arm grabbing onto a rib bone.
Minute Discussion
-as we continue into minute 3 the submersible continues into the eerie darkness of the Jurassic world lagoon.
-inside the sub the white guy looks uneasy. The black guy tells him to relax, anything in here would be dead by now. When I seen this I thought it was 4 years later so yeah everything should be dead. But it wasn’t until a tweet after the films release Colin had to confirm these opening events are 6 months after the evacuation. Tell us in the film! This is going to be a repeated trend moving forward unfortunately.
-the sub settles on the bottom of the lagoon and in the glow of the searchlights we can see a bony structure.
-as the search light blow out the lighting in the frame we transition to a side shot of the sub approaching the skeleton, and a voice over from one of the mercenaries fills us in on what we are seeing and what their objective is. “There she is, the indominus Rex.”
-and as the minute ends the subs robotic arm extends outwards and grips a rib bone.
